Day 16 – A picture of someone who inspires you

This one was easy in a sense. There is one woman who has been the biggest influence in my life. Past, present and, I know, future. This is a woman whose advice I always ask for even if I don't end up taking it.

But first, the runner-ups. In no particular order:

My Seester. Ah, what Blog Post would be complete without my seester in it. As previously stated she is the (second, as I am the first) best seester anyone could ask for. She left a comfortable life in Canada to move to Thailand to teach English. She went, the first time, without knowing how it would be, whether she would find her niche. She went half way around the world knowing no one. And she has been back and forth to Thailand on and off for the last 7 years. She is currently Head Teacher at her school.



My Bamma. My Bamma passed away 8 years ago Thursday. She was.. I don't have words to describe how much she meant to me. She was a second mother to me. When I was around 10 or 11, my Bamma and my Poppa converted my parents mud room into a separate house for themselves and moved in full-time. For thereon in we had live-in grandparents. Myself and my three siblings got to see Bamma and Poppa whenever we wanted. Bamma taught me how to play cards. Taught me how to cheat at cards. She was one of the smartest women I knew. My family loves to play Trivial Pursuit but you could never get Bamma on your team, she would give answers to whoever asked tho. She raised 11 kids with my Poppa. 11. The last pregnancy was twins. I can't even imagine. I have problems with the one I've got sometimes. She raised 11 kids and worked a full-time job.

I will always miss her. Always. It hurts that she will never know Ricky, even though she wouldn't have approved of him since he was a boy :D




I'm sure you all saw this coming: My Number 1 inspirational person-

My mommy. Oh my mommy. My mom is the best mom (even better than me). She inspires me. She may have only raised us four kids, but she did an amazing job of it. As the oldest of 11 (seriously..eleven..) she may have had some practice tho. As I reflect on mine, and my siblings adolescences I can't imagine why she didn't drown us all. We were pains in the butts. We are all now responsible independent adults. I credit her (and dad) for that.

Now that I am a mom myself, I am even more inspired by her. She teaches me something new all the time. I call or Skype her all the time for advice. Ricky will and already has benefit from having her as a Grandmer.

Mom-I love you and I appreciate you more than you can ever imagine. Thank you.

Day 15 – A picture of something you want to do before you die

Can you imagine the feeling of plunging through the air with just a giant elastic cord attached to you? I can't. But I kinda want to. I have a fear of heights, not a severe fear, just a 'ugh' feeling. I think if I can actually make myself bungee jump then I will conquer that fear. I keep saying I'm going to do it and never do. I honestly don't know if I ever will now, but if I do then I expect people to buy me a beer afterwards!

Day 14 – A picture of your favorite store

I admit it. I love Walmart. There is a Super Center walking distance from our place and Ricky and I have done many a stroll over there. Lots of variety for reasonable prices...whats not to love??

So now you may judge me :)

Day 13 – A picture of your favorite band or artist

I'm not really 'into' music that much. I can take it or leave it. Unless it's country...I can pretty much always leave country. Ick.

I have certain songs I adore. And I suppose there are musicians I listen to that I would say I like all of their music..Bing Crosby is one. But I decided to go for more of an ensemble.

We (Ricky and I) went and saw the latest Muppet Movie about a month ago. LOVED IT! It was so awesome! So, my favorite 'band' and 'artist' is The Muppets. Jim Henson was a genius. He brought much joy to many peoples lives. Both children and adults. RIP

Day 12 – A picture of something you love

OooOoo, almost forgot!

Since I have limited time I am taking the easy way out for today. I love cheese. Not weird smelly cheese, but nice normal mozza, cheddar, Parmesan, feta, haloom. Just tasty tasty cheese. And because of this and my utter lack of self-control--I have quit cheese. The deal I made (with myself) is that I get one 'cheese cheat day' a month, outside the house. I was going to just quit it totally but I think it would be an empty life with no cheese. So far I have gone since December 8th, except for my cheat day which was yesterday. Mmmm, Auntie Liz's macaroni..

I need to get healthier. I don't want to be a fat mom. I want to be able to be more active with Ricky as he gets older. If it takes quitting cheese then that is the price I am willing to take. After a year then I will reassess and see if I feel comfortable adding cheese back into my diet.

Oh, and come New Years I am quitting junk food (chips, cookies, candies) except for three cheat days a month.

Day 11 – A picture of something you hate

Seriously. It's always gonna be Zombies. Its more I am terrified of them. I can trace my fear/hatred of them back to my early 20's. I was at an after-the-bar party, so may have been a tad intoxicated, and someone had the brilliant idea of throwing in the original, from the 70's Dawn of the Dead. O.M.G!! For poor, drunk little me that did it. Since that day I have dreaded the Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse. Both my sister and my brother have bought me books on Zombie fighting...I'm too scared to read them. One of the reasons I started dating Mike was because he had a Zombie Fighting Plan. Seriously, Zombies are NOT okay!

Okay, seriously. I don't do crazy things anymore. So because I can't think of any crazy things I have done lately...here is a picture of a cute baby to distract:

This is my dear friend and god-sister Mel. (we share the same god mother so we are god sisters obviously). We have only actually known each other for the last couple of years but we bonded quickly over our love of Geek and our Love of The Habs! The last two years we have gone to ComiCon together, gotten our pictures taken (separately) with Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner. I can't think of anything crazier than getting a one-armed hug from Spock. Seriously...he TOUCHED me!

She is gorgeous, she is smart, she is funny, she is crafty, she cooks (I think she is actually the daughter my mother always wanted), she is kind, she is evil and she is one of my closest friends. And is a seester to me.

Oh, and here she is trying to eat my tasty tasty brains as we waited in a very very long line to get our pictures with Spock... In the Star Trek uniforms that she made for us. She also has plans in place for the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse

Day 09 – A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

Let's not be silly. We all knew who this was going to be. My seester. I can always count on her.

I have gone to her with many a problem, and she always is a sounding board for me. I hope that I am the same.

Day 08 – A picture of your most treasured item

So I put some thought into this one. I have lots of stuff. Like, excess amounts of stuff. Some people (Mike) might even say I am a pack-rat. Clearly some people (Mike) are wrong.

I have things that are precious to me (quilts and wall hangings made by my Bamma. MerCreations made by my mom, pictures) and all of those are worth more than I can express. But I decided to go a different route, I decided to pick something that I bought and that I have had the longest.

Now, I bought this when I first moved out of my parents house. I think it was one of the first things I bought. I remember thinking 'wow, $9.99...that's expensive, oh well, I need it'. It has moved with me over the last 19 years to four different provinces. It is usually the last thing packed and the first thing unpacked.

My alarm clock. Weird I know. But this alarm clock is perfect for me. I am blind without my glasses, the numbers on this clock are so big that I can actually make it out with minimal squinting from a few feet away. (I put a pop can beside it for reference) The radio part no longer works but the alarm is super loud. Not that I ever really need the alarm, I have a mental alarm that usually wakes me up when needed.

So yes, I don't know if it would be one of the things I would grab in case of a fire, but I do so love my alarm clock and would miss it if I didn't have it...

Day 07 – A picture that makes you laugh

This 100 days of Blog'ging is already appearing to be Ricky content heavy. Oh well, not much I can do about that.

Ricky had fallen asleep on me. Was right out. Yet smiling, I made some funny noises at him and he would grin in his sleep, he was practically giggling at one point. Yet remained asleep. Hilarious.

Day 06 – A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day

This one was HARD. I, generally, am quite happy with my life. Why trade?

But just for one day? I want to be this woman. Just for a day.. Look, she gets to feed adorable little baby penguins!

Day 05 – A picture of your favorite memory

It's this one. Right here. I don't even think I have to say anything else.

Day 04 – A picture of yourself and a family member

My beautiful, wonderful, smart niece. This is when she was about a year and half. She is now four and a half and even more wonderful. I don't get to see her nearly as much as I would like but every time I do it makes me happy.

I wish that we lived closer so that Ricky and I could spend more time with her but at least there is Skype.

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show

I couldn't narrow this down to just one. In fact, I found it very hard to narrow down to just two. But here they are:

Once Upon a Time:



I am LOVING Once Upon a Time. It is well written, clever and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I don't even hate Zoe, oops, I mean, Emma as I thought I would.

Rumpelstiltskin is the most complex character to me, I question if he is actually as evil as they are portraying him to us.

How I Met Your Mother:


I'm actually getting worried for this one. They had a good first three or four seasons but they seem to be dragging lately. They have stalled on actually 'meeting the mother' and now all the characters are in danger of taking the cute little 'personality ticks' they had in the beginning and going over-the-top with them. Like most shows do if they run too long.

They still have quality material tho, and I am still rooting for Barney and Robin to get back together!

Day 02 - A picture of the person you have been closest with longest

This one is a tough one. Although I know most people are thinking I will just put up a picture of my seester and be done with it, well, we really didn't get along until I was about 20. And by 'not get along' I mean, she was really mean and bossy. I may have been a 'little' bit of a brat and a 'little' annoying, but c'mon, really??

Fortunately she finally realized the errors of her ways and now she isn't so mean anymore. She's still bossy but that works in my favour now. And also, I know she will always have my back. And I will always have hers. Always. So I guess there really isn't any surprise who is today's winner..

9-I think I might be a little too addicted/connected to social media. As I type this on my laptop with my tablet beside me and my BlackBerry on my lap..

10-I am running out of facts about myself that I am willing to share.

11-I hold grudges

12-I am shy and very self-conscious. I hide this by being very out-going.

13-I am a klutz.

14-I can't remember ever being okay with my body type.

15-I have real problems with finding pictures of myself that I like so finding one for this post will take a lot of work.

Starting off right

So I found this 'challenge' on a random website that I tangent'ed to from another website I got to...somehow.. It looks interesting. I think I will try it out, starting in a few days tho. I am much to busy parenting and stuff to start tomorrow!

I will also intersperse fun pics of Ricky and perhaps even blog about the joys of parenting. For example-tomorrow Ricky and I are going swimming, he will be wearing a speedo style bathing suit (I will not be). Pictures will be taken and perhaps even posted.
